l-r: Randall Park, Uzo Aduba, and Susan Kelechi Watson in Netflix’s “The Residence” (2025)

Honeys, does The Residence currently have you in a chokehold?

Created by Paul William Davies, executive produced by Shonda Rhimes, and inspired by Kate Andersen Brower’s The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House, The Residence stars Uzo Aduba, Giancarlo Esposito, Randall Park, Susan Kelechi Watson, etc. etc. etc. (more on that later). By way of a fictional murder mystery, this bingeable Netflix rollercoaster peers into the lives of the workers of that big house on 1600 Pennsylvania Ave (by the way, we actually interviewed a real-life former White House Social Secretary, Deesha Dyer on IT’S GOOD OVER HERE).

So, this series dropped on March 20. In this binging culture, it’s hard to avoid spoilers within even 24 hours of a series premiere—but, we wanted to give a realistic timeline for our Honey Hive to watch the entire season before diving in with a honey-dipped perspective. You ready?!

*WARNING*: From here on out, everything will be filled with spoilers about all eight episodes of “The Residence.”

Uzo Aduba is an ELITE Character Actor, and it Shows, Chile

Fans of Orange Is the New Black know that Uzo’s knack for quirky characters is supreme and Cordelia Cupp is no exception. Cordelia is written as a wry, passionate, and brilliant investigator and it’s Uzo’s physicality and delivery that really cements her as a character to remember. The way she hurriedly walked when she had a lead, swung her legs over the chair to emphasize a word, or peered into the soul of a suspect during an interrogation, I seriously couldn’t take my eyes off of Cordelia.

She was the core energy of a series that was already bursting with chaotic energy. I guess somehow, she brought it all together. She was like the mama who clapped in a crowded room of kids to get them all to shut up and pay attention.

Plus, the various flashbacks really gave us great insight into what makes her tick and, more importantly, into her heart.
