IT'S GOOD OVER HERE Ep 6: Retirement is a Scam! Roshida Dowe and Stephanie Perry of ExodUS Summit
We get into leaving America, de-centering work, and prioritizing our peace
retirement is a scam!
Ya’ll. Episode 6 of IT’S GOOD OVER HERE is a must listen. Not just because the above clip is making the rounds on the internet, but because Roshida Dowe and Stephanie Perry of ExodUS Summit had us thinking about all the things: retirement, work, and delaying our peace.
Roshida and Stephanie have built a community that helps Black women fulfill their dreams of living abroad, and they share their story on how they got free from work, the US, and unrealistic expectations of Black women
As I’m currently reimagining what my relationship to the U.S. looks like, I leaned in on Stephanie and Roshida’s blueprint to peace out and the courage to do something about it.
If living abroad is on your heart, then prepare to get activated around making it happen.

talkback
Honeys! Let’s talk about it. Have you ever taken a sabbatical from work? What are your thoughts on retirement? With the f*ckery happening in this country right now, are you considering moving abroad?
This episode got me thinking DEEPLY about a sabbatical from work. And I've definitely dreamed of a long-term stay in another country. I got some researching to do!
First of all, how'd we get to episode 6?! I have some catching up to do. I've never taken a sabbatical from work, well, unless you count short-term disability for recovery from surgery. As far as retirement goes, I don't know if I'd fully retire, meaning I'd be intentional in the projects I work on. I want to continue to do something and that's because things are so expensive and we're living longer. (And I wanna keep my mind active.) Now retiring abroad does sound enticing.
