Head Honey Felicia Pride Spills the Tea on Creating and Running HONEY CHILE Entertainment
"For any Honeys out there who are on their entrepreneurial journey, just know that you are not alone. I see you. I feel you. We are in this together," Felicia says.
🗣️ Honeys with entrepreneurial dreams, come to the front!!
If you’ve ever thought about starting a business, are currently running a business, or are simply curious about Head Honey Felicia Pride’s journey to starting/maintaining HONEY CHILE Entertainment (media/production company by, for, and about Black women 40+), then Episode 11 of IT’S GOOD OVER HERE is especially for you, Chile.
It’s 2025 and we’re celebrating ***Four Years*** of HONEY CHILE, y’all!! Felicia is kicking off the ongoing celebration by giving Honeys the scoop on the origins of HONEY CHILE, the challenges in-between, and what she has learned so far in this entrepreneurial journey.
First off—did you know:
🍯 …HONEY CHILE has been bootstrapped and financed by Felicia Pride since its inception? (*hint hint nudge nudge* we’re definitely open to outside investors via The HONEY Fund)
🍯 …Felicia went to school to obtain a business degree and has a degree in marketing?
🍯 …Felicia started her first business at 27-years-old?
From the Head Honey herself:
I wasn’t one to shy away from entrepreneurship, having started my first business in my late 20s. But I was tired of not seeing stories that spoke to me or other Black women my age and decided to do something about it. I was also very clear that the business favored youth and chose to see creatives like myself as work for hires. Starting HONEY CHILE felt like a calling and allowed me to have some skin in the game, but that didn’t make it any less scarier.
I’ve learned so much about myself on this entrepreneurial journey and share all that goodness for my fellow Honeys and creative entrepreneurs as HONEY CHILE celebrates our four year anniversary. Becoming a CEO ain’t for the faint at heart but my heart is so full of gratitude for the leap I took and to everyone that has continued to support our journey along the way.
When it comes to the ongoing process of maintaining HONEY CHILE, Felicia reflected on focusing on her North Star during the challenging moments–y’all know we only keep it real ‘round here. Chiiiiile, it ain’t easy.
“[There’s] the challenges of A CEO, learning how to be a leader, learning how to be a strong leader,” Felicia muses. “Learning how to delegate, the challenges of financing. We know the facts around Black women entrepreneurs and the lack of financing, investment, and support that we receive. All these mentorship programs that don't give us any money, which is what we really need. So, that is a big challenge. Building your team is a challenge. Marketing is a challenge. Working with limited resources is a challenge. And some days I'm just like, ‘Why am I doing this?’”
And therein lies the core—the why.
“Then, the mission comes back and the desire comes back,” Felicia adds. “The ownership of it all—this is our thing that we're building. And that's incredibly important to me.”
As always, HONEY CHILE’S mission is essentially about getting Black women free. Y’all ready for freedom? Get into the helpful goodies Felicia provides in this latest episode. 👇🏽👇🏾👇🏿
